Now Offering Joint Injections

Fairfax Veterinary Hospital is excited to announce that we are able to offer a new treatment for arthritis. Our doctors and technicians have completed training in the use of a revolutionary new technique and product for the treatment of arthritis.

Arthritis (Osteoarthritis or OA) is incredibly common among dogs and cats. It is often a silent cause of pain, decreased quality of life and unfortunately a common cause of humane euthanasia.

A 2024 study found that 40% of dogs had evidence of arthritis visible on x-rays by the age of 4! Of these dogs only 40-60% showed obvious symptoms of discomfort (abnormal posture or gait, lameness, activity avoidance/hesitancy, behavior changes). 80% of dogs over 8 years of age have OA. Arthritis begins long before visible signs appear. This means that far too many dogs live with untreated arthritis and pain that worsens over time and often becomes debilitating.

Arthramid is a safe treatment for joint pain and lameness. This is injected directly into joints that are suffering from osteoarthritis (OA). Arthramid helps to manage arthritis pain and secondary lameness (limping) long term. Arthramid is a gel that works on the synovium of the joint. Synovitis or inflammation of the synovium is the single most important factor that contributes to pain with OA.
